Nanbudo Canada's International Seminar
Friendship in Martial Arts (Budo Friendship) 武道の友情 (Budō no Yūjō)

Under the theme of Friendship in Martial Arts (Budo Friendship), Nanbudo Canada held its International Seminar under the direction of Renshi Mehdi Naguib, 7th Dan, with the special participation of Shihan Ahmed Gaad, 6th Dan, Vice President of the International Nanbudo Federation (INF), who traveled especially from Casablanca to attend the event.
The first day of the seminar was open to practitioners of all martial arts. As a sign of respect and friendship, the flags of the participating countries were displayed alongside the portrait of the Founder, Dōshu Yoshinao Nanbu, surrounded by the Nanbudo Canada banner and our Shōmen.
Regarding the technical program, Renshi focused on Ki Nanbu Taisō, beginning with the Nami Bunkai, followed by Nanbu Tenchi Undō, Shiage no Kata Tsuki then Keiraku Taisō Yonban, performed with its original Japanese music. A brief introduction to the study of the meridians and tsubos (pressure points) was also presented before concluding with self-defense techniques.
As tradition dictates, the official poster of the International Seminar was signed by all participants.
The following days were reserved exclusively for Nanbudokas and covered the following topics:
- Ki Nanbu Taisō – Sho
- Selected Nanbu Sōtai Randori
- All Bō Shihotai Kata
- Bō Ten Ryū
- Kihon Bokken
The final day of the seminar culminated with the Black Belt grading examinations. Congratulations to:
- Gabriel Dimitri – 3rd Dan
- Martin Castilloux – 2nd Dan
- Mathieu Cournoyer – 1st Dan
- Hervé à Botoro – 1st Dan
Nanbudo Canada also took this wonderful opportunity to honor several individuals for their outstanding contributions:
- Shihan Ahmed Gaad — International Contribution Award
- Martin Castilloux — Outstanding Commitment Award
- Hervé à Botoro — Samurai Spirit Award
To conclude this memorable international event, a friendly gathering was organized with Sensei Jean Frenette, 9th Dan, bringing the seminar to a close in the true spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and Budō.. (Pictures below)

L'amitié dans les arts martiaux 武道の友情 (Budō no Yūjō)

Sous le thème de l'amitié dans les arts martiaux, Nanbudo Canada a organisé son stage international sous la direction de Renshi Mehdi Naguib, 7e Dan, avec la présence de Shihan Ahmed Gaad, 6e Dan, Vice-Président de la Fédération Internationale de Nanbudo (INF), qui s'est spécialement déplacé de Casablanca pour y assister.
La première journée du stage était ouverte aux pratiquants de tous les autres arts martiaux. En signe de respect et d'amitié, les drapeaux des pays participants ont été hissés aux côtés du portrait du fondateur, Dōshu Yoshinao Nanbu, entouré de la bannière de Nanbudo Canada et de notre Shōmen.
Concernant les techniques enseignées, Renshi a mis l'accent sur le Ki Nanbu Taïsō, avec le Bunkai de Nami, suivi du Nanbu Tenchi Undō, Shiage no Kata Tsuki, puis Keiraku Taïsō Yonban, accompagné de sa musique japonaise originale. Une courte introduction au travail des méridiens et des tsubos a également été présentée, avant de conclure par des techniques de self-défense.
Comme le veut la tradition, l'affiche officielle du stage international a été signée par tous les participants.
Les journées suivantes étaient réservées aux Nanbudokas afin d'aborder les thèmes suivants :
- Ki Nanbu Taïsō – Sho
- Quelques Nanbu Sōtai Randori
- Tous les Bō Shihotai Kata
- Bō Ten Ryū
- Kihon Bokken
La dernière journée du stage a été couronnée par le passage de grades des ceintures noires. Félicitations à :

- Mathieu Cournoyer – 1er Dan
- Hervé à Botoro – 1er Dan
À cette occasion, Nanbudo Canada a également rendu hommage à plusieurs personnes pour leur contribution exceptionnelle :

- Hervé à Botoro — Samurai Spirit Award
Pour conclure ce magnifique événement international, une rencontre amicale a été organisée avec Sensei Jean Frenette, 9e Dan, marquant ainsi la fin d'un stage placé sous le signe de l'amitié, du partage et de l'esprit du Budō. (Photos ci-dessous)
